Applicants must:

  • Be an innocent victim of a crime or a third party who is required to pay for a victim’s crime-related bills, and have no other means of payment
  • Report incident to law enforcement within 48 hours; if not reported, provide a justifiable reason
  • Cooperate with law enforcement and the prosecution except in cases of domestic violence and sexual assault

Provides financial compensation for people who have suffered monetary losses as a direct result of some form of violent crime. Eligible applicants may receive compensation for medical expenses, mental health counseling expenses (up to 2 years), funeral expenses, eyeglass/corrective lens expenses, loss of earnings, and loss of financial support.
