Referrals To Children Services | Richland County Children Services
Investigates all reports of alleged child abuse, neglect, and dependency. It takes calls 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Under the direction of Ohio law, all reports are confidential. Callers concerned about children will be asked to provide the child and the parents' names, address, and a description of the basis of their concern for possible abuse, neglect, or dependency including (1) the child's condition and behavior, and (2) the parent's behavior. All allegations are investigated in compliance with the Ohio Administrative Code and the Ohio Revised Code. Investigations conclude with a decision about whether services, including child removal, are necessary to assure the safety and well-being of the child. * Emergency responses require a face-to-face contact with the child within one hour. 'Emergency' means immediate risk of serious harm to child's life. * All others require contact within 24 hours and a face-to-face contact with the child within 72 hours, accroding to Ohio Administrative Code.
