The person filing does not have to live in Geauga County, but the deceased person whose estate will be probated must have resided in Geauga County and potential wards (for guardianship) or conservatees must reside in Geauga County. May be other eligibility depending on what forms are being filed.

The Juvenile Division also hears all traffic offenses committed by persons under eighteen years of age, and has jurisdiction in adult cases involving paternity, child abuse, nonsupport, and failure to send children to school.
