Eligibility
Must be a citizen of the United States and a resident of Geauga County for at least 30 days. Must be at least 18 years old on or before the day of the general election. If individual will be 18 on or before November 2, may vote in the primary election for candidates, but cannot vote on issues until they turn 18. Those who have moved since the last time they voted need to re-register at their new address. Must not be incarcerated (in prison or jail) for a felony conviction. If incarcerated for a misdemeanor, may register and vote. If individual is an ex-offender with a felony conviction, must register to vote upon release from prison even if registered prior to imprisonment. Must not have not been declared incompetent for voting purposes by a probate court; and must have not been permanently disenfranchised for violations of the election laws. College students living in Ohio may register to vote using whichever address the student considers his or her permanent residence at the time of voting. In order to vote in an upcoming election, voter registration form must be postmarked 30 days before upcoming election.
