Gas/heating Fuel Service Payment Assistance | Salvation Army Of Mount Vernon

Financial assistance will be considered for utility shut-off prevention, Columbia Gas when funding is available. Assistance is paid directly to utility company - No assistance for fuel oil/ propane or water - Gas (for heating) and electric payments only - Funding based on availability and grant requirements - Assistance granted once per roiling 12 months (this includes rent and utility assistance) - Client must be living in home where assistance is needed - Utility must be in the name of an non-deceased adult - Assistance provided will not provide a credit - Utility must be in disconnect - Max assistance is $200 - Federal Funding must be exhausted prior to receiving assistance (HEAP season 11/1-3/31)

Application process

Call for appointment. Intakes (requests for appointments) are made the first Monday of each month for the following month. Please have your utility information (account number, disconnect amount and date) information available. Intake calls will be returned within 2 business days.

Eligibility

Household must be in Knox County, at or below 300% FPL. Households are eligible once per rolling twelve months. Utility Bill must be in the name of an adult living in the household. Service must be off or in threat of termination. Federal Funding (HEAP) must be exhausted prior to receiving assistance. Households are eligible 1 per rolling 12 month period for either partial rent or a utility payment
