Ohio Edchoice Scholarship Program | Ohio Department Of Education And Workforce

Provides scholarships to eligible students from low-performing districts to attend the participating private school of their choice. Scholarship amounts are $4,250 for grades K-8 and $5,000 for grades 9-12, or the actual tuition charged, whichever amount is lower. Program does not cover uniforms, books, or other materials related to school.

Application process

To determine eligibility, check standing of public school to be assigned to on department's web site or call for information, M-F: 8:30am-7:00pm. First step is to apply to and be accepted by an approved private school. Approved private schools can then handle the application for the scholarship. To get a list of approved schools, may call the main office M-F: 8:00am-5:00pm. May also access the list of approved schools through the department's web site anytime.

Fee

Free to apply. Parents may still have to pay individual school application and materials fees.

Eligibility

Serves Ohio, although students residing in the Cleveland Metropolitan School District are not eligible. Eligible school districts change yearly, depending on performance of individual schools. Students attending community (charter) schools who live in districts described above are eligible to apply for these scholarships. who appears in the bottom 10% of school buildings in the state by performance index are eligible to apply.
