Eligibility

Must have a disconnect notice or already be turned off. Household income must be at 175% of the poverty level. Also, this program assists anyone needing help with propane and fuel. They must meet the same requirements and their tank level must read at or below 25%.

Required documents

1) Wages, last 30 days paystubs, Court ordered child support printout from agency SSI award letter or copy of bank statement TANF/OWF benefits printout from ODJFS Unemployment - printout account summary Utility reimbursement - Metro HUD Section 8 housing contract Self-employed - most recent year's IRS form 1040 with schedule C or quarterly statement, If zero income must have documented proof of how you met your personal needs. If someone is paying your bills a notarized letter from the gift giver with the amounts given with their name, phone numbers and address. 2) Utility bills must be in household members name. 3) Social security cards for all household members. 4) Lease (if renter) Call for further details or if zero income.

Description

The Winter Crisis program runs from November 1st through March 31st. To assist individuals having trouble paying their gas or electric bill if that is their heating source, a one time payment of up to $175 for regulated gas/electric or $750 for unregulated utility customers. And $900 for bulk fuel, and $550.00 for coal or wood assistance and Furnace Repair up to $500.00. Clients will be processed for all available programs, including HEAP, PIPP and Winter Crisis at each appointment.
