- Varies by location. - Serves Portage County residents with low income (as defined by HUD) and fall into one of the categories: Adult with a minor child; disabled adult; adult age 62 or over; couple without minor children (the wait is much longer for this category). All applicants must undergo a background check for criminal and drug convictions. If persons on the waiting list for this service get temporary shelter out of county, it should not affect their status on the waiting list (but they or a worker at the shelter should inform the agency if they do).
