CHILD SUPPORT - ARREARS REDUCTION - HARDSHIP - REDUCTION OF PERMANENTLY ASSIGNED ARREARS | CUYAHOGA COUNTY JOB AND FAMILY SERVICES

Offers two processes by which child support arrears (money owed by the non-custodial parent to the state) may be reduced. The first is called a "compromise" which allows the non-custodial parent to make one lump payment in addition to the current support obligation or an installment plan where current support order payments count toward a reduction in arrears. The second is called a "waiver" which reduces the arrears owed to the state without requiring payment if documented and verifiable evidence support the waiver. Requests dealing with $5,000 or more are forwarded to the Ohio Office of Child Support for approval. This program does not reduce arrears that are owed to the custodial parent.
