The Kinship Permanency Incentive (KPIP) program was made to help children who live with relatives or close friends when their birth parents cannot care for them. KPI gives money to families who take care of their kin for a certain time. If eligible, recipient will get an initial payment to help with the costs of starting the arrangement. After that, they may receive more payments every six months to make sure the child stays in a stable home. The most a person can get is eight payments, and the program doesn't last longer than forty-eight months in a row. The KPI payments are extra money in addition to the cash help the child already gets from Ohio Works First (OWF).
