Basic Needs Assistance - Veterans / Surviving Dependents / Miltary Families | Carroll County Veterans Service Commission
Provides assistance with food, shelter (rent or mortgage), utility bills (gas and electric), principle car payments, and other needed services for Veterans, active duty military, and dependent survivors. In some cases, may assist with indigent burial. Assistance is in the form of vouchers. Amount of assistance is based on demonstrated need.

Call to schedule an appointment. Client will be provided forms and will be given an appointment to return with documentation.

Eligibility
- Must be a legal resident of Carroll County for at least 90 days prior to making application for financial assistance. - Must be an honorably discharged Veteran with at least 90 days of active military service beyond training) or active duty service member. - Dependents of Veterans may also apply. - Considers many factors when determining financial need including income from work, benefits from county, state and the federal government, and the claimant's living expenses and assets. - Funeral assistance is only provided for indigent Veterans. - Client can receive assistance as often as determined by the agency on a case-by-case basis.
