Medina County Community Housing Impact And Preservation Program (chip) | Medina County Department Of Planning Services And Fair Housing Office
Provides home repairs and rehabilitations for income eligible homeowners. Repairs may include plumbing, electrical, roof, gutters, furnace, ADA modifications, water heater, electric panel and other health and safety needs. The Home Repair Program provides no-cost upgrades and fixes for qualified homeowners. This grant-funded program requires no repayment by the homeowner. The Home Rehabilitation Program offers more extensive repairs and upgrades for homes. Assistance will be in the form of a declining-forgivable loan. There is no monthly payment, and no interest will be charged. No credit check is needed. 100% of the amount borrowed will be forgiven over (5) years provided owner continues to own and occupy the home. NOTE: Funding varies from year to year and might not always be available.

NOTE: Due to the increased number of applications and projects determined income eligible, all new applicants will be placed on a wait list. Applicants on the wait list may be reviewed if grant funds become available.

Eligibility
- Serves income qualified residents in the City of Wadsworth and the unincorporated areas of Medina County. Residents of the City of Brunswick and the City of Medina are not eligible. - Applicant(s) must own and reside in the home. Rental properties or properties being purchased via a "land contract" are not eligible. - Household may have no more than $100,000 in assets, exclusive of the value of the home. - Applicant(s) must be current on all mortgage and tax payments. - Applicant(s) must provide evidence of house insurance. - Mobile homes are eligible if titled to Homeowner, Owner-occupied, and current on Lot Rent; or, with the owner also owning the land and property taxed as real estate. - Total household income must be at or below 80% of the Area Median Income (updated April 1st, 2023): - Family of 1 = $50,650. - Family of 2 = $57,850. - Family of 3 = $65,100. - Family of 4 = $72,300. - Family of 5 = $78,100. - Family of 6 = $83,900. - Family of 7 = $89,700. - Family of 8 = $95,450.
