Handles complaints against juveniles regarding delinquent behaviors (crimes) or unruly behaviors such as truancy, runaways, breaking curfew, and making disturbances. After a complaint is made, an investigation is done to see if there is probable cause and if diversion is appropriate before a hearing is scheduled. Before making a complaint to the court, other community resources such as social service agencies and the police should be utilized. Court action should be avoided if possible and should be seen as a last resort such as when parent, school etc. feels they have lost complete control of the child.
