REPLACEMENT OF FOOD ASSISTANCE BENEFITS | PORTAGE COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF JOB AND FAMILY SERVICES
Provides replacement funds to Food Assistance (food stamp) recipients who have lost food due to a power outage, fire or governor declared emergency. Replacement funds may replace up to (but not exceed) the client's monthly allotment of food assistance. Funds are sent by electronic transfer to the recipient's Ohio Direction Card.

Application process
Call the office or walk in for the application form. Client must return the application to the agency (on site or by mail) within 10 days of the reported loss. Once Complete Application is Submitted: - A prorated credit will be added to the Direction Card, generally within 24 hours after the start of the next business day. This may be longer when there is a high volume of applications.

Eligibility
- Serves Ohio Direction Card (SNAP/Food Stamp) recipients residing in Portage County who have lost food due to a power outage, fire, or flood. - Loss of Electricity: Power must have been out for at least four (4) hours or more due to a situation beyond the client's control (a shut-off due to a lack of payment or equipment malfunction does not count). Households should be prepared to provide verification of the extended power outage. - Flooding or Other Disaster: Will only help with replacement due to flooding or other disaster if the incident is a governor declared emergency.
