Guardian Ad Litem - Youth | Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court - Division Of Domestic Relations
Appoints a Guardian ad Litem (GAL) for youth whose parents are divorced or divorcing and are affected by custody and visitation issues. The GAL represents the child's best interest by performing an investigation and interviews of the family and their situation. GALs have been trained for this position and are generally attorneys, social workers, or psychologists. A GAL may be appointed for reasons such as to ensure the child's views are heard or one parent's behavior may be hurting the child.

An order must be made by a judge of the Cuyahoga County Domestic Relations Court. If the order has not already been made, a motion must be filed in the Cuyahoga County Clerk of Courts Office before a Guardian ad Litem can be ordered by the court.
