Homestead Exemption Program | Lorain County Auditor
Offers a tax reduction program which provides Lorain County homeowners with relief on a portion of their home value. With homestead, eligible homeowners receive an exemption on a portion of appraised value from taxation for a single family home. Eligible military Veterans receive an additional exemption. Will answer questions and assist with completing forms regarding the reduction.

Eligibility
Must the following eligibility requirements: - Own and occupy a home in Lorain County as your principal place of residence as of January 1st of the current tax year. - Is at least 65 years old or will reach age or 65 during the current tax year; or - Is certified totally and permanently disabled as of January 1st of the current tax year, regardless of age; or - Is the surviving spouse of a current Homestead participant, and who was at least 59 years old on the date of their spouse’s death; - Military Veterans who have either received a total (100%) disability rating for service-connected disabilities, or received a total (100%) disability rating for compensation for service-connected disabilities based on a determination of individual unemployability.
